Description
| This drawstring shoulder is made from an old Labari folk costume. This is a one-of-a-kind shoulder bag that will become the star of your coordinating outfit to use when you are going out with just your phone, wallet, handkerchief, and a small pouch. Rabari Tribe The Rabari are an ethnic group living widely in the northwestern Indian states of Rajasthan and Gujarat, as well as in the Sindh province of Pakistan. They used to be nomadic herders of camels, goats, and sheep, but are now becoming more sedentary. When the men went off to graze, the women took care of the house and spent much of their time doing needlework to support their clothing lifestyle, resulting in beautiful embroidery. Embroidery was applied not only to costumes, but also to house wall decorations, bags, and other furnishings, as well as to livestock ornaments. These items served as dowries for marriages. The mirror work of the Rabari varies from round*triangular*rhombic to more abstract patterns. |
