[Daikokuten is believed to be in charge of food, and is widely known for his blessings of a good harvest.
He is said to be an incarnation of Shiva, the god of creation and destruction in Indian mythology. He is usually seen wearing a hood and riding on a bale of rice with a large sack representing treasures and a small mallet from which wealth springs. It is believed to bring good fortune for a good harvest, prosperous business, and good luck.
