This tray is simply a single piece of Japanese oak that has been gouged and polished. It will warp and crack due to repeated expansion and contraction caused by changes in temperature and humidity.
*If you are concerned about stains, do not wash it in water, but wipe it off with a well-wringed cloth. *Wipe up any spills and dry in a shady, well-ventilated area. * Avoid direct sunlight, excessive heating or drying by air conditioners, and excessive humidification by immersion in water. It may cause warping or cracking. *Do not use it as a potholder, for example, to hold hot pots or medicine cans. Doing so may cause burning, warping, or fire. *Warping Solid wood may warp overall depending on usage and storage conditions. If warping occurs, place the product on a level surface with the raised edge down (ground plane). Overnight placement will help. For further improvement, moisten the raised edge slightly by wiping it with a well-wringed rag, and place it again on a level surface. Place the piece on a level surface and check to see if the warping has subsided. The frequency of warping will become less and less as the years go by. |
