This serving tray is made from a single slab of domestically sourced oak that has been hollowed out and polished. Due to changes in temperature and humidity, the wood may repeatedly expand* and contract, which may cause warping or cracking.
*If you notice any dirt, do not wash it with water; instead, wipe it off with a well-wrung-out cloth.
*If liquid is spilled, wipe it up and let the tray dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
* Avoid excessive heat or dryness from direct sunlight or air conditioning, as well as excessive moisture from soaking in water. These conditions can cause warping or cracking.
* Do not use this as a trivet for hot pots or kettles. Doing so may cause scorching, warping, or a fire.
*Regarding Warping
Solid wood may warp slightly depending on usage and storage conditions. If warping occurs, place the mat on a level surface with the side where the edges are raised facing down (toward the surface it rests on). Leaving it overnight should help. If you wish to further correct the warping, lightly moisten the side where the edge is raised—for example, by wiping it with a well-wrung dishcloth—and then place it again on a level surface with that side facing down. Monitor the piece to see if the warping subsides. Over time, the frequency of warping will decrease and the piece will stabilize.
