Description
| Citrine, along with topaz, is the birthstone of November. Citrine has long been used as an alternative to topaz, which was produced in small quantities and was very expensive. The name "citrine" comes from the French word "citron. Citron is a member of the tangerine family native to India. It bears pale yellow fruits and is called "marubusubusubekan" in Japanese. The name "citrine" comes from its resemblance to the color of the citron fruit. In Japanese, citrine is called "kisuisho" (yellow crystal) because of its color. There are various theories as to what citrine means, but some examples include "prosperity," "success," "wealth," "happiness," and "hope. |
