Description
| amethyst [Amethyst] Also called purple crystal. Amethyst has a very long history of association with humans, and its name can be found in the Old Testament. In Greek mythology, there is a story that Diana, the goddess of the moon, took pity on the maiden amethyst, which was about to be misled by Bacchus, the god of debauchery and his retainers, and turned it into a stone. The amethyst became the color of beautiful wine. The legend says that Bacchus, ashamed of his act, poured wine into the amethyst, which turned into the color of beautiful wine.
