Description
| A traditional Kenyan basket made of woven threads of baobab bark fibers. These baskets have been made by households for storing and transporting grain and other items since ancient times, and have evolved into bags with handles. Once made as daily necessities in between farming, they have now become an important source of income for the people of Kenya. Baobab material is thinner than sisal because the yarn is thinner, less fuzzy, and stronger. The border patterns are made freely according to the sensitivity of the knitters. |
