Through the postcard, you can feel the work of art in the palm of your hand as well. Jakuchu Ito was born in Kyoto between 1716 and 1800. He studied the Kano school while working in the family's wholesale business of green goods, but at the age of 39, he handed over the reigns of the family to his younger brother, and began to devote himself to painting. While studying the ancient paintings of the Yuan and Ming dynasties and the decorative paintings of the Korin school of Japanese and Chinese painting, he also worked on sketching animals and plants, and was especially good at painting chickens. In recent years, his unique style has earned him the nickname of "the painter of strange ideas," and he has gained popularity. His most famous work is the National Treasure "Festschrift festschrift" (festschrift festschrift). |

保元〜寛政12年(1716-1800)、京都生まれ。家業の青物問屋のかたわら狩野派を学びますが、39歳で家督を弟へ譲り、絵に専念する生活に入ります。元・明の古画と光琳派という和漢の装飾画を研究するかたわら、動植物の写生に勤め、特に鶏の絵を得意とします。その独特の画風から近年は「奇想の画家」と呼ばれ人気を博しています。代表作は《国宝 動植綵絵》。
