*Picture postcard [Sumo wrestling with frogs and toads] *Jakuchu Ito, Edo period, 18th century (Lent by Kyoto National Museum)

We recommend these postcards not only as seasonal letters to those close to you, but also as interior decorations for your room. Through the postcard, you can feel the work of art in the palm of your hand as well.

Jakuchu Ito was born in Kyoto between 1716 and 1800. He studied the Kano school while working in the family's wholesale business of green goods, but at the age of 39, he handed over the reigns of the family to his younger brother, and began to devote himself to painting. While studying the ancient paintings of the Yuan and Ming dynasties and the decorative paintings of the Korin school of Japanese and Chinese painting, he also worked on sketching animals and plants, and was especially good at painting chickens. In recent years, his unique style has earned him the nickname of "the painter of strange ideas," and he has gained popularity. His most famous work is the National Treasure "Festschrift festschrift" (festschrift festschrift).
