享保元年〜天明3年(1716-83)、江戸時代中期に活躍した俳人・画家。 穏やかな情景描写で絵画的な発句を得意としました。池大雅と並び称される文人画の巨匠で、俳句と絵画を織り交ぜた「俳画」というジャンルの創始者でもあります。代表作は《国宝 十宜図》《国宝 夜色楼台図》など。
