Nakamura Hochu was born in Kyoto, Japan, in the 2nd year of Bunsei Era (? - 1819). -He was born in Kyoto and lived in Osaka, where he studied the painting style of Ogata Korin and left his name as a painter. He also liked haikai, and was widely associated with haiku poets in Edo, Osaka, Owari, and other areas. [He left many works such as Rimpa-style paintings of flowers and grasses with extensive use of "tarashikomi" and witty haiga. His representative works include [Korin gafu] and [Hanakai zu gacho].
