ロクタは正しいやり方で伐採、生産すると再生力のある紙資源のため地球に優しい素材です。
ヒマラヤの山麓、ネパールの手漉き紙は「Himalayan Rice Paper（ヒマラヤン・ライスペーパー）」と呼ばれ、1,800〜3,000mのヒマラヤの高地に生息する沈丁花（ロクタ）の樹皮を原料にしています。紀元前の古来より変わらない手法によって一枚一枚手で漉いて作られています。
また、虫などに強い性質を持っている上、とても丈夫で強い紙になっています。色塗りもすべて手作業です。
