Description
| [Tableware, Japanese Tableware, Bowls, Tamawari, Stylish, Commercial Use, Made in Japan] A “tonsui” is a small bowl with a handle, while the “gyokuwari” (without a handle) is used for cracking eggs for sukiyaki, serving portions of hot pot dishes, or holding tempura dipping sauce. The gyokuwari can also be used as a general-purpose small bowl. Reinforced porcelain is made by adding a large amount of alumina to the porcelain clay and finely grinding the raw materials to remove large particles that could cause breakage. Additionally, the expansion rates of the body and glaze are adjusted, and the pieces are fired at high temperatures to further densify them. This results in a flexural strength that is two to three times greater than that of standard porcelain. |
