While bowls are generally used to serve dishes with broth, these shallow bowls can also be used to serve dry dishes without looking out of place. Of course, they can also be used for dishes like tsukemen and Koro udon.
Reinforced porcelain is made by adding a large amount of alumina to the porcelain clay and finely grinding the raw materials to remove large particles that could cause breakage. Additionally, by adjusting the expansion rates of the body and glaze and firing at high temperatures, the porcelain is made even more densely compacted. It has two to three times the flexural strength of standard porcelain.
