ニードルポイントレース テーブルセンター
ニードルポイント技法という刺繍レースのテーブルセンターです。
基布を頼りに刺していく刺繍ではなく、糸と糸を編み上げていくレースとも違う技法で、板紙に描かれた図案の輪郭に糸を置きそれを板紙に縫いとめ、その後に糸だけを頼りにボタン穴かがりで糸を刺して作り上げていく技法です。
そのため刺繍ともレースとも言えず「刺繍レース」といった独特な芸術品になります。
イタリアのベニスで盛んに作られていたので通称「ベニスレース」とも呼ばれています。
