Description
| [Chemical lace] A type of embroidery lace (lace based on embroidery). After embroidery, the base fabric is melted, leaving only the embroidery threads. The name "chemical" comes from the chemical treatment used to dissolve the fabric. (Currently, the process uses water to dissolve the fabric out of concern for the environment.) By dissolving the base material, it is possible to create a translucent effect as if the threads were woven, even though it is embroidery. It is possible to create a delicate finish with fine count threads or a three-dimensional effect with thicker count threads. The lace has a wide range of expression, such as a delicate finish with fine count threads, or a three-dimensional effect with thicker count threads. |

エンブロイダリーレース(刺繍をベースとしたレース)の1種。
刺繍をした後、下地となる生地を溶かして刺繍糸だけを残して作ります。
溶かす際に化学処理を行うことからケミカルの名前がつきました。
(現在では環境への配慮から水で溶かしています。)
下地を溶かすことで、刺繍でありながら糸を編んだような
透け感を演出できるので、細番の糸で繊細に仕上げたり
太番の糸で立体感を出したりと、表現の幅が広いレースです。
