The Volga basket is made of grass native to grasslands, a type of grassy field called Napier grass or elephant grass, which is also known as Nanchem Gulu (Kassena Nankana), Kulukata (Gruni), Kpenpening (Bulk), Kulkara (Dagomba), etc. Kulkara (Dagomba). Most of them seem to grow wild in wetlands near riverside areas or along banks. The weavers cut them and bring them home, cut them to the same length, dye them in different colors according to their designs, and sort them for storage. The colorful and beautiful baskets are the result of the originality and ingenuity of the individual weavers. *Discounts are available for orders of any amount!
