Description
[born with a silver spoon in one's mouth]. This is a European proverb meaning "born with a silver spoon in one's mouth", which means that one will never be short of food, or that one will be born with a fortune. It is a wish that in the future, one will be wealthy and have no trouble with money. In Europe, it is customary to give a silver spoon to a baby as a gift to celebrate its birth. *Peter Rabbit's Story*. The inspiration for this story was a picture letter written by the author, Beatrix PotterTM, to her friend's son, 5-year-old Noel, in September 1893. The story takes place on a farm in the English countryside. Peter, a mischievous rabbit, enters Mr. McGregor's garden to eat lettuce and is discovered by him. Mr. McGregor chases him and Peter runs away, but what will happen to him? Beatrix later decided that she wanted to turn the story into a picture book, and after publishing 250 copies at her own expense in 1901, she had all the pictures colored and published the following year in October 1902 as "Peter Rabbit's StoryTM" by Frederick*Warne. The first edition sold out by pre-order only, and in less than two years became a bestseller with over 50,000 copies sold. The book became a series of Peter Rabbit picture books featuring many characters, and even now, more than 100 years later, it continues to be read around the world, and Peter, the main character, continues to be loved by people all over the world. |

「BORN WITH A SILVER SPOON IN ONE'S MOUTH」
