| [In 1938, the U.S. Army developed the M1938 Mackinaw Coat, a shorter-length coat for mechanized units based on the M1926 Officer Overcoat. The material was changed to poplin and a thin wool lining was adopted. Lightweight and easy to move in, the Mackinaw Coat was very popular with combat troops and was also called a jeep coat, and was used by all branches of service. Our product is modeled after the more commonly known M1938, eliminating the waist strap and adding slash pockets. *Jacket*. |
