Kannon is not somewhere far away. It is our daily life. The heart that cares for others, that is Avalokitesvara. Yokota Nanrei President of Enkakuji School of Rinzai Zen Buddhism. He graduated from Tsukuba University. After graduating from Tsukuba University, he began his training at Kenninji Temple in Kyoto. In 1991, he began his training at Engakuji Temple, where he became the successor of Master Daishin Adachi. In 1999, he became the Master of Engakuji Temple. In 2010, he was appointed as the headmaster of Engakuji School of Rinzai Zen Buddhism. In December 2017, he became the 2nd President of Hanazono University. He has made numerous appearances on NHK radio and lectures. 臨済宗円覚寺派管長 横田南嶺老師が檀信徒へ書き送った、 76の「禅の生き方」。
明日はどうなるかわからないけれど 今日一日笑顔で暮らすことは 努力すればできることではないでしょうか。
観音様はどこか遠くにいらっしゃるのではありません。
私たちが日々の生活の中で 他人を思いやる心、それこそが観音様です。
横田南嶺（よこた なんれい）
臨済宗円覚寺派管長。
筑波大学卒。在学中に得度し、卒業と同時に京都建仁寺僧堂で修行。
1991年から円覚寺僧堂で修行、足立大進老師の法嗣となる。
1999年、円覚寺僧堂師家に就任。
2010年、臨済宗円覚寺派管長に就任。
2017年12月、花園大学第2代総長に就任。
NHKラジオや講演会など出演多数。
著書に『わたしの観音さま 延命十句観音経』(青幻舎)、『いろはにほへと ある日の法話より』、『人生を照らす禅の言葉』、『二度とない人生だから、今日一日は笑顔でいよう』など多数。
