Suzuki Harunobu, Kitagawa Utamaro, Utagawa Hiroshige, Utagawa Kuniyoshi ...... The masters of Ukiyo-e devoted themselves not only to actors and beautiful women, but also to pictures in which children played the leading roles.
This collection features approximately 170 works from Takumon's collection of children's Ukiyo-e, which collects the best of these works.
The collection features a fresh and unique world of Ukiyo-e cut out with the element of "play," including lively expressions of children playing, parents and children enjoying each other's company, and "toy pictures" filled with a playful spirit.

Murasaki Fujisawa
Professor at Kokugakuin University, Faculty of Literature.
Specializes in Japanese art history, Japanese early modern cultural history, and comparative cultural theory.
His major works include [Ukiyo-e for Fun: An Introduction to Edo Culture] (Tokyo Shoseki), [The Complete Picture Books of Harunobu Suzuki] (editor, Bensei Shuppan), and [Bessatsu Taiyo: Harunobu Suzuki, Definitive Edition, Ukiyo-e Artists to Color Your Love] (editor, Heibonsha). He is a permanent director of the International Ukiyoe Society.
 

Yosuke Kato

Curator at Nerima Art Museum. He specializes in the history of early modern Japanese painting.
His major Ukiyo-e exhibitions include [Kobayashi Seichika: The Light and Shadow of Civilization] (Nerima Art Museum and others), [Kuniyoshi-ism: Utagawa Kuniyoshi and His Lineage] (Nerima Art Museum), and [Yoshitoshi: Ukiyo-e Genius in a Turbulent Age] (Shimane Iwami Art Museum and others).
He is a permanent director of the International Ukiyo-e Society.
