Description
| Colombia is home to nearly 500,000 coffee farmers, many of whom are small farmers. The country is one of the most mountainous countries in South America, with the Andes Mountains running from north to south. The soil is volcanic ash, which drains well, and the high altitude creates a temperature difference between day and night, which allows the coffee berries to store sugar. The sloping terrain makes it impossible to use machinery, so the coffee is carefully harvested by hand. In Colombia, quality control and grading are conducted by the FNC (Federación Nacional de Colombia), and coffee production is carried out on a national scale. The coffee has a rich, fruity aroma, a smooth, sweet flavor reminiscent of tropical fruits, a rich body, and good acidity.
