| [Kohaze is a nail-shaped piece used to fasten the seam of tabi socks, tabi kinsei, and tekko. The kohaze is attached to the edge of the tabi and then fastened together with a kohaze kake. The current writing is "kohase," but this is more like a guess, meaning "to join two or more things together with a hard substance to make one" (kohase). It is derived from this word and is appreciated by customers as a good-luck charm to "connect people" and "keep happiness together. As a unique and ancient Japanese button, it is now widely used not only for Japanese traditional clothing, but also for fashion, shoes, bags, and miscellaneous goods.
