| Carved from carefully selected fine wood Ballpoint pen with beautiful wood grain Ichii Ichii [Anecdote] The name comes from the fact that Emperor Nintoku praised the workmanship of this wooden ladle and bestowed upon it the highest rank of [Shoichi]. As a commemorative tree for success and achievement of purpose, the name [ichii] itself means victory or triumph. It is suitable as a commemorative tree for the opening* of a business. [Features] The yew tree is famous for its origin in Gifu Prefecture's Hitoyama, which is why it is also the prefectural tree of Gifu Prefecture. Generally speaking, the older the tree, the more beautiful the bark and the better the color and luster. The yew tree is easy to work, light, tenacious, and not prone to distortion, and has a high degree of elasticity, all of which are necessary elements for processed products. [Uses.] It is best suited for delicate carvings, and is especially famous for Ichii Itto-bori carvings in Hida Takayama and other areas. |

イチイの樹木は岐阜県の位山が有名な産地であり、その事から岐阜県の県木にもなっています。一般的に樹齢が古いほど、木肌が綺麗で色艶が良いものが多いとされています。
イチイは、加工性が良く軽くて粘りがあり狂いもあまり見られず、弾力性に富むといった加工品の材料に必要な要素を多く持っていると言えます。

繊細な彫物に最適で、特に飛騨高山などの一位一刀彫が有名。
