| His previous work [Ippon Sen to Manuel] is a Chilean picture book. This picture book was created after the author met Manuel, a boy with autism. Manuel, who loves lines, follows them to school and back home, depicted in simple words and pictures. For those who have difficulty reading the text, a pictogram is included to aid comprehension. This picture book, a sequel, is the original Japanese publication. Manuel, who is beginning to take an interest in the outside world, goes on a picnic with his family and encounters various creatures. When the first volume was published, the author and the artist visited Japan for promotion and held a workshop at a Japanese nursery school. This picture book was born partly from the inspiration they received from the Japanese children at that time. Includes pictograms. |
