| Product Description Mori Sosen 1747 - August 18, 1821 (July 21, Bunsei 4) Japanese painter of the late Edo period. His common name was Hachibei, his given name was Morizo, and his character was Shukui. He also used the stage names Sosen, Nyokansai, Reimeian, and the shop name Hanaya. Influenced by the Kano school and Maruyama Okyo, he pursued his own style of painting. He became the founder of the Mori school, which was continued by his adopted son Mori Tetsuzan. He mainly painted animal paintings and was especially good at monkey paintings. His most famous work of monkey painting is "Akiyama Yuusenzu"(Monkey). 日本の江戸時代後期の絵師。
通称は八兵衛、名を守象、字は叔牙。
号としては祖仙、如寒斎、霊明庵、屋号の花屋も用いた。
狩野派や円山応挙などの影響を受けながら独自の画風を追求し
養子森徹山へと連なる森派の祖となった。主として動物画を描き、とりわけ得意とした
猿画の代表作として『秋山遊猿図』がある。
