歌川広重（うたがわひろしげ）
寛政九年(1797)〜安政五年(1858)
江戸の定火消しの家に生まれた広重は、幼い頃より絵を好み家督を相続した直後
師匠となる浮世絵師の門を叩きその世界へと踏み出す。
風景画家として名高く、特に『東海道五十三次絵』は遠近法を用い雨や風を感じさせる
描写がより立体的な感覚を与え現代においても人々に愛され続けている傑作である。
また、大胆な構図に特徴的な藍色を使用した画面の美しさは特にヨーロッパやアメリカで
評価が高く「ヒロシゲブルー」とも呼ばれる。印象派やアール・ヌーヴォーの作家たちに
ジャポニズムの潮流を巻き起こした一因であるとも言われる。
