Description
| The prototype of the Mle 38 musette bag was adopted by the French Army in 1892, and has undergone numerous variations as it went through various fabric, color, and button specification changes over a period of about 60 years until the mid-1950s. It is also called a bread bag because it was initially issued to store bread and cheese and other groceries. It was most widely used in World War I. After the war, as disarmament progressed around the world, a successor musette bag was adopted, but updates tended to be delayed, and it continued to be used in World War II. In the late 1940s, the Mle 38 was mainly issued in olive green canvas with metal buttons stamped [military equipment], and in the mid-1950s, it was finally updated with its successor, the Mle 50. 50 in the mid-1950s. Our product is a reproduction of the cotton canvas model used in the 40s. The thick cotton canvas fabric and the stamped metal buttons have been reproduced down to the smallest detail. *Bags*. |
