| Yasuto Okunaka(Author) The kobuei (drum and fife) corps was created as a military band with a shinobue flute for melodies and a snare drum for rhythms, and was trained in Western-style military training to counter Western powers. Later, it disappeared with the abolition of feudal Japan, but it has survived to this day in connection with local community festivals. This study examines several groups that have continued to exist since the Meiji Restoration and about 10 groups that have been revived since then, and introduces the transformation and adaptation of traditional music due to cultural contact. |

幕末鼓笛隊は欧米列強に対抗するために西洋式の軍事訓練がなされ，メロディを吹く篠笛と，リズムを刻むスネアドラムが軍楽隊として誕生した．その後廃藩置県により消滅したが，じつは地域社会の祭礼と結びついて今も生き残っている．
維新後から継続している数団体と，その後復活した約10の団体を調査し，文化接触による伝統音楽の変容と適応について紹介する。
