Description
modern girl (1920s slang) After the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, the city of Tokyo was greatly transformed, and young people known as "mobo" (modern boy) and "moga" (modern girl) appeared on the scene. Among the most popular items among the modern girls were silk fabrics called "meisen," which incorporated foreign textile designs. Walking around town in a kimono with pop patterns was a new style at that time. We have reproduced the colorful world of Meisen and the atmosphere of fine kasuri weaving and arranged them into furoshiki (wrapping cloth). |
