Initially, the company mainly produced vulcanized rubber for the soles of slippers, but due to increased demand, it also began to produce rubber shoes and rubber boots for agriculture and fishing. In 2000, the company bought out a competitor, Sarraizienne, brand by brand, and now owns eight brands of rubber footwear and boasts an annual production of 3.5 million pairs. HUMEAU-BEAUPREAU（ウモ・ボープロー）社、1947年、フランス・ブルターニュ地方の中心都市ナント郊外で創業。 当初はスリッパのソールに使う加硫ゴムの生産が主だったが、需要増に押され農業、漁業用のラバーシューズ、ラバーブーツも生産するようになる。 2000年になると競合社のSARRAIZIENNE社をブランドごと買取し、現在ではラバー系フットウエア8ブランドを所有、年間350万足の生産を誇る。 大企業に成長しながらも、大量生産で数だけ販売して売り逃げるのではく、デザイン性を重視してヨーロッパ各国のデザイナーズブランドのOEMも積極的に手掛け、自社でもデザインチームを保有しているのはいかにもフランスらしい企業である。 細かく、少量のオーダーにも快く応じてくれるのは、創業者のボープロー氏が、“戦後の混乱の中で、履くものもなくさまよっている人々のために”という設立当初のの社風を今も受け継いでいるからという。 ちなみに主力ブランドのUMOは創業地HUMEAUのフランス語の音読みである。
