◆ギュピールレースとは・・・
飾り紐という意味の英語の（gimp）から作られた言葉です。
17世紀にはレリーフのあるすべてのレース、特にベネチアのレースをさしていましたが、その後ブリッド編み地（目の詰まったモチーフ間のつなぎ）にデザインを施したレースを指すようになりました。
しかし現在では主に機械刺繍によってつくられたレースのことを、ギュピールレースと呼んでいます。
レリーフ状に仕上がる重厚な雰囲気が特徴です。
