Description
Written by Hideki Yukawa Yukawa Memorial Room, The Museum of Osaka University, Supervised by Hideki Yukawa [Introduction to Quantum Mechanics] Reprint Editorial Committee This book is a new edition of Hideki Yukawa's "Introduction to Quantum Mechanics," revised and enlarged, with modern notation based on the original edition, and reproduced as faithfully as possible. Although the original text has been out of print for a long time and even active researchers in quantum physics have never seen this textbook, the content is appropriate for modern readers. It is recommended for students who want to grasp the concepts of quantum mechanics. The first edition was written based on the young Yukawa's experiences teaching at Kyoto Imperial University and Osaka Imperial University at the dawn of quantum mechanics. At Kyoto Imperial University, Yukawa marked this textbook with chalk and wrote on it as he taught. The structure of this book was conceived by Yukawa on his own, and Chapter 8 was added to the revised and enlarged edition. It is interesting to see how and who thought about and took on the challenge of creating a new theory at a time when quantum mechanics was being developed. Yukawa wrote in his preface. [Quantum mechanics is today the most fundamental theoretical system not only in physics but also in chemistry. Moreover, it is having a profound influence on various branches of engineering, biology, physiology, psychology, and even philosophy. In view of this, this book is intended to be an introduction to quantum mechanics for physics students on the one hand, and to be read by a wide range of people with an interest in this field on the other.] The book is intended to be read by a wide range of people with an interest in this area. Even though many years have passed since Yukawa wrote this book, there are still many mysteries about life that remain unresolved. In this age when AI is at its zenith in all fields, reading this book, which is carefully written from the basics of quantum mechanics in order to grasp probabilistic and statistical ideas, will be a sure knowledge and power for students of our time. The appendices are relatively numerous and include an overview of classical physics and classical quantum theory, both of which are necessary as background knowledge for studying quantum mechanics. |
