Material / component: [Material]
Top / Titanium (purity: 99.99%) [Inspections available]. Service chain: Stainless steel (50cm) [Trivia] *Titanium is a lightweight, scratch-resistant, and rust-resistant metal that is also used in medical tools, and is said to be gentle on the skin and resistant to metal allergies, making it ideal for pendants. *This image is also used in Feng Shui. The wind god is flying through the sky with a large sack. This large sack is a bag of wealth. The god of thunder repels evil with his light and the sound of his drum. He is also said to be the god of union. He is believed to bring wealth, ward off evil, increase the number of offspring, and create a world of brightness and light. |
Description
*This pendant features a painting of the Wind God and Thunder God by Sotatsu Tawaraya. *Sotatsu Tawaraya was a painter active in the early Edo period (the first half of the 17th century). *The Wind God and Thunder God have existed since ancient times, but Sotatsu borrowed the design from the Tenjin Engi Emaki scrolls that circulated after the Kamakura period (1192-1333) and made it his masterpiece by enlarging it on a folding screen. *The two deities face each other, competing for power and skill in a fascinating and attention-grabbing scene. Later painters even copied it. *Originally, the two gods of Japanese folk beliefs and Shintoism, the wind god and the thunder god, were paired together in a design. The design became popular after Tawaraya Sotatsu's "Wind God and Thunder God Folding Screen" was painted, and was so popular that it was depicted on many kimonos, including black tomesode, visiting kimonos, and ehaori (a type of kimono). *The powerful figures of the Wind God and Thunder God are carved on both sides of titanium. Just by looking at these powerful figures, one feels empowered. |
