| *Fan [Dragon], By Kano Tanyu (for both men and women)* By Kano Tanyu, Edo period, Lent by Toji, Tokyo Kano Tanyu Born in Kyoto between 1602 and 1674. Grandson of Kano Eitoku. He showed great artistic talent at an early age and was acclaimed as the second coming of Eitoku. He became an official painter of the Shogunate, and led his school in the production of the wall paintings of Gyoko-den at Nijo Castle, and other important Shogunate projects, establishing the status of the Kano school. His representative works include "Jorakuden at Nagoya Castle" and "Nijo Castle Ninomaru Palace Barrier Painting. #Recommended for inbound visitors. |

狩野探幽 江戸時代 東寺蔵
狩野探幽（かのう たんゆう）
慶長7〜延宝2年（1602〜1674）、京都生まれ。狩野永徳の孫。幼くして画才を発揮し永徳の再来と絶賛された。幕府の御用絵師となり、一門を率いて二条城行幸殿の障壁画制作をとり行うなど、幕府の重要な仕事に腕をふるい、狩野派の地位を確立させた。代表作は『名古屋城上洛殿』『二条城二の丸御殿障壁画』。
