How the Shinjuku West Exit Plaza was created. A close look at [Junzo] Sakakura's urban design!   All-color introduction to Junzo Sakakura's never-before-seen department store architecture!   The first time we see the architecture of a department store;

Architect Junzo Sakakura studied under Le Corbusier, the master of modernist architecture. Through his activities, this book introduces the history of postwar reconstruction architecture and urban infrastructure design through Takashimaya and other department store buildings, in which architecture directs the flow of people into the city. It will be revealed that his department store architecture, which has been little known until now, served as a stepping stone to urban design and became the foundation of Sakakura's designs, leading to such masterpieces as the Tokyu Shibuya Terminal and Shinjuku West Exit Plaza.
