This glass wind chime is carefully blown one by one by Japanese glass artisans. The design is a copy of an Edo cat drawn by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, an ukiyoe (woodblock print) artist active in the late Edo period. All parts other than the beads are made in Japan, and set-up was also done in Japan. The tongue, which is the key to the tone, is made of crystal glass. The tongue has fine irregularities and produces a cool and complex tone when it hits the body of the wind chime.
