Description
By Shiro Momoki Is [history] a useless subject that only requires memorization of the "immobile past"? Is history an "unprofitable" subject? What is history? How can we learn history? What is the meaning of studying history? How many adults can answer these questions? The Department of History at Osaka University has been attracting attention both at home and abroad for its efforts to promote historical research from a perspective rooted in the local way of life, and to innovate history education, such as "world history including Japanese history" in cooperation with high school teachers, in areas such as Silk Road history, Southeast Asian* history, and modern and contemporary global history, without being confined to fixed theories or textbook descriptions. This book describes these progressive efforts. In this book, based on such advanced research * education, we will reconsider the meaning of history by understanding the ideas and trends of history as a background of new textbooks for high schools * universities. The course also aims to provide students with the knowledge and experience necessary to confront themes that are connected to contemporary issues and to develop a critical spirit that is not bound by the world at hand or by conventional wisdom. This is an introduction to history for living in the present, following the highly popular "World History for Citizens. *Features of this book *[Issues] and [Resources]. Using [issues] and [materials] related to the problems of old knowledge* and ideas, and the main points* of new historical studies* as a springboard, the book presents a historical study that goes beyond conventional historical studies* and historical education, such as the Eurocentric view of history, the nation-state view of history, and the male-centered view of history. It will bring new perspectives to readers interested in [learning history]. For example, [when was the Kamakura Shogunate established?"]. . There are theories such as 1183 and 1185 as well as [making a good country (1192)] memorized in textbooks. In fact, this is a question of definition [what is considered to be the establishment of the Shogunate] and a question to reconsider the 5W1H. *[Formulas of History]. A list of basic concepts of history, basic objects* ideas of historiography, and patterns widely found in actual history are summarized as [historical formulas]. Students will be able to learn new methods and images of world history and acquire general-purpose historical thinking skills based on the basic character of historiography. For example, [a ruler whose domestic policy does not go well tries to score points through diplomacy and foreign wars], [the winner of a war does not always gain unilaterally], etc. From the concept* logic of historiography to the development of history, you will realize the very significance of studying history as we live it today. |
