Description
Aquariums are twice as much fun if you know about "architecture"! The first volume of a new type of introductory book on architecture that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike, and that can accompany you on your travels. Japan is known by many as a "major aquarium country" with nearly 100 aquariums, one-fifth of the world's total, and can be considered an "advanced aquarium country" in terms of technology. Aquariums, which are special facilities that hold large volumes of water and care for the lives of living creatures, are also "living architectural spaces" that continue to evolve in line with technological advances and the efforts and ingenuity of those involved. However, compared to art museums, museums, libraries, etc., which can be considered the architect's masterpiece, aquariums have not often been discussed from an architectural viewpoint. The author is Hiroshi Miyazawa, former editor-in-chief of Nikkei Architecture and popular for his architectural illustrations, including the Kengo Kuma Architectural Picture Book and Architectural Pilgrimage series. The author, who has delved into "architecture" from various angles, has now turned his attention to "aquariums" as a valuable place where people of all ages, from adults to children, can experience and enjoy architecture. He visited aquariums throughout Japan on his own, and carefully selected 53 of them for this book. All color illustrations and abundant text provide easy-to-understand explanations. The book shows the highlights of aquariums from an architectural point of view, including illustrations of not only the exterior of the buildings but also the mechanisms inside the aquarium tanks, which are usually difficult to see. [Contents of this book] *Selected 53 aquariums from all over Japan; *The book provides a "one-stroke" tour of 53 aquariums carefully selected from all over Japan in three areas: [Tokyo*Chiba*Kanagawa area] [East to north (Ibaraki~Hokkaido)] [West to south (Shizuoka~Okinawa)]. zAsk a professional about the structure and ingenuity of aquariums ; zThe history of aquariums, which has progressed along with the spread of glass for 170 years ; z Illustrations of 53 carefully selected aquariums z Fish information is provided in the "Aquariums " section of the website; Index by designer ; Stamps & stamps & nbsp; Others Hiroshi Miyazawa Painter, writer, editor; Artist and editor. Formerly editor-in-chief of Nikkei Architecture (2016-19), he became independent in 2020. Currently presides over Office Bunga. Founded BungaNet Inc. His books include "Kengo Kuma Architectural Pictorial Book" and "Architectural Pilgrimage" series, and he is popular for his light-hearted books with illustrations and diagrams in which he appears and explains.
