| Everyone has probably seen this at least once at a descendant bar, You may have seen this large tanuki figurine at least once at a descendant barley shop. For some reason, it is famous as a "Shigaraki ware tanuki, The image of Shigaraki = tanuki is well established in the general public. Tanuki figurines have been produced since the Meiji period (1868-1912) because of the association between the word "tanuki" and the word "tanuki" (meaning "raccoon dog" in Japanese), Tanuki figurines have been made since the Meiji period (1868-1912) as a good-luck talisman to bring prosperity to commerce. The reason why they became known all over Japan is because the Emperor Showa Emperor Showa was welcomed by many tanuki figurines when he visited Shigaraki Town, He composed a poem about it. 大きなたぬきの置物。なぜか“信楽焼のたぬき”として有名で、
信楽＝たぬきのイメ ー ジは一般に定着しています。
たぬきの置物は、明治期よりタヌキ＝他抜きというごろ合わせから、
商光繁盛の縁起物としてつくられるようになりました。
それが日本中に知られるようになったきっかけは、昭和天皇が
信楽町行幸の際、たくさんのたぬきの置物の歓迎を受け、
歌を詠まれたことでした。以来、信楽といえばたぬきという
イメージが広く伝わりました。
この手のひらサイズの「SHIGA☆LUCKY」は、デザイナーの川路あずさとの
協働開発によって新たなラッキーアイテムとして生まれ変わりました。
