| *Sigeo Ushiutomo [Selected Works] Mini Portfolio*. Shigeo Ushiuchi (1946-1983) suffered from a thoracic vertebral caries when he was a child, which stopped his growth and left him with the physical handicap of a bent back. He studied photography at the Kuwasawa Design School under Seiji Otsuji, and continued to take photographs while battling his illness, publishing three books of photographs before his death. One of the characteristics of Ushiuchi's work is that many of his snapshots are of children, and for this portfolio we have selected one work from his early days, four works from his masterpiece "SELF AND OTHERS," and one work from "Time of Childhood," and have made it the first collotype of his work. This is the first collotype work by Ushiuchi. *What is collotype*? While offset printing, a common printing method, expresses colors and shading with a density of small dots, collotype expresses them with continuous gradation, which makes it possible to express them with fine details that are closer to the real thing, like photographs. The *Mini Portfolio Series is a series that focuses on size and set contents so that users can easily enjoy photographic works with the expressive power that only Collotype can offer. Each set contains 8 x 10" sheets of collotype prints, which can be held in your hand and admired one at a time, or framed as a beautiful addition to your home decor. |
