Block printing is a traditional Indian craft in which ink is pressed onto the fabric using hand-ground woodblocks to create a pattern. 手掘りの木版を使って生地にインクを押し付けて柄出しをする、インドの伝統工芸になります。数種類の木版を彫り、何種類のインクを使い、幾分にもインクを重ねていくという作業工程であり、複雑なカラーやカラフル配色を生み出す作業はとてもなく果てしなく、その分機械では出せないハンドメイドならではの優しくも温かい風合いを生み出すことができます。
