| Isekatagami Lamp - KATAGAMI Series The traditional techniques of the past have become "healing light" from beyond the millennium, and reach the present day. Ise-katagami" originated in Ise, Mie Prefecture (present-day Suzuka City). It is said to have originated in the Muromachi period (1333-1573), and has long been used to dye kimono fabrics with ancient Japanese patterns and designs. It is made by applying extremely delicate engravings on Mino washi pasted together with persimmon tannin. Isao Uchida, a traditional craftsman, is responsible for the "Kataribe" shieido using Ise-katagami. The "form" that has enriched Japanese people's lives by dyeing kimonos with beautiful patterns and designs will gently and softly illuminate your life from now on as the "light" of an andon (paper lantern). The frame is made of lacquer, which is resistant to scratches and color fading. You can enjoy a "Japanese space" as a place for hospitality while feeling the Japanese tradition as a light. Traditional craftsman (stencil carver) Isao Uchida He specializes in tsukibori, a technique of carving delicate patterns, and his trademark is the graceful curves that he creates with his sensitivity. He is the most skilled katagarishi of his generation.
