| [Fascinated by the line, Shinro Ohtake has been vigorously creating copperplate prints for over 40 years. In the fall of 2022, Shinro Ohtake will hold his first major retrospective exhibition in 16 years at the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo. This book, Ohtake's first collection of copperplate prints, covers a body of work that he has produced since 1978. The book contains 391 prints, which were created from a variety of motifs such as music and travel. The book also includes many previously unpublished works, including 31 new works created in 2022. An essay written by Ohtake himself describing his first encounter with prints and a long interview of 12,000 words reveal Ohtake's passion for prints. The cover design of the book is based on the image of an engraved "plate," with bold details of the work on the cover and lines engraved on the cover, making this a gorgeous book that allows the reader to fully appreciate Ohtake's obsession with "line" expression.
