The new product also has an antimicrobial effect that inhibits the growth of bacteria that cause food poisoning, such as Staphylococcus aureus and bacillus pneumoniae, as well as Moraxella, which causes fresh-drying odors. It is a higher level of antimicrobial cleaning than sterilization or antibacterial cleaning.
The effect lasts even after repeated washing. It is especially effective when it is not possible to dry outside.

The SEK Mark is a certification given by the Japan Textile Evaluation and Technology Council to products that have passed the criteria for safety and durability of the antimicrobial effect and processing.      
   
This [Nittobo's kitchen cloth] is a long-selling product that has been used for more than half a century since its launch in 1960, and has been passed down through the generations to children and wives.   The name of the product is "Fukin," which means "kitchen cloth.
At a time when most dishcloths were made of cotton, Jinko Ohashi (founder of Kurashi no Techo) went to the U.S. on an inspection tour and bought a sample dishcloth, which was developed in collaboration with Nittobo over a period of two years.
