Description
*Roots in Kashmir Paper Mache Kashmiri paper mache is a traditional Kashmiri artisanal decoration made by tearing paper into small, tiny pieces and gluing them together into molds, which are then beautifully decorated by artisans. Kashmiri paintings that have been drawn for decoration are the roots of this painting. The history of paper mache dates back to around the 15th century. It was made by a Kashmiri prince who was imprisoned in Samarkand at that time, and it was made when he returned to Kashmir. *Painting technique cultivated by history Kashmir boasted high-quality papermaking technology at that time. As the paper industry developed, the demand for pen cases increased along with the demand for pens, both to draw the covers of bound books and because Persian calligraphy was flourishing in the region. As a result, paper-mache pen cases with beautiful paintings began to be made in Kashmir. During the Mughal Empire, they were widely used for decorating elephant baskets, room walls, and ceilings. *Kashmiri paintings became tableware. In Kashmir, where such traditions are still alive, artisans hand-paint tableware such as cups and curry plates. The design motifs include flowers, chintz patterns, and arabesques, and are strongly influenced by Persia. Birds and fish are also depicted, but basically no humans are depicted. The majestic mountains and beautiful lakes of Kashmir. They are works of art nurtured in the rich nature that surrounds them. There is a wide range of items from traditional floral and chintz themed items to pop and bright atmosphere items. The richly colored hand paintings and warm designs have a nostalgic retro taste that is familiar and appealing. |
