| *From the mini-portfolio Morimura Yasumasa [Balconegro on the table], [1984]*. 1984 This is a series of black-and-white photographs created by Yasumasa Morimura in 1984, before his debut with [Portrait (Van Gogh)] (1985), composed of various objects on the table in his studio. We have selected five images from this series and printed them on collotype, which is now a rarity in the world. The title of the series, "Barco Negro" means "black boat" in Portuguese, and is a famous folk song by Amalia Rodrigues, which became world famous. This song is a memorable song for the artist at the time, and the melody of this melancholy song has been playing in the background of the creation of this work. Yasumasa Morimura Born in Osaka in 1951, Morimura created a self-portrait of himself as Van Gogh at the age of 34. Since then, he has continued to create works on the theme of "self-portrait-like works" and has been active both in Japan and abroad.
