「ペンホルダー」とは、ペンを持つようにして握る
グリップ形状であることから名付けられた、
卓球ラケットのひとつです。
ペンホルダーを使用する選手は日本や中国、
韓国をはじめとしたアジアに多く、
最近ではヨーロッパでも使用する選手が
増えつつあるラケットと言えます。
ペンホルダーのラケットには、
おもに日本式と中国式があり、
片面だけにラバーを貼り、
フォアハンドもバックハンドも同じ面で打つ日本式と、
両面にラバーを貼り、
フォアハンドとバックハンドが
違う面で打てる中国式があります。
私がなぜペンホルダーのプレーヤーに
なったかとういと、
父がペンホルダーの卓球選手であり、
その影響といって良いかもしれません。
むしろ、気がついたら
「ペンのラケットを握ってた」というぐらい、
小さい頃からペンホルダーで卓球を
プレーしています。
ジュニアから卓球に熱中していく過程では、
ほんの少しですがシェークハンドのラケットも
握ったことはあります。
しかし、シェークハンドの選手のなかに入ってしまうと、
大多数のなかにいる「普通の選手」に
なってしまう気がしたのも確かです。

自分を高めてくれる可能性が秘められています。
