| *Shikishi [National Treasure, Illustrated Words and Phrases from the Diary of Murasaki Shikibu]* Kamakura period, Gotoh Museum of Art collection [The Murasaki Shikibu Diary is a masterpiece of diary literature in which Murasaki Shikibu, the author of The Tale of Genji and a servant to Emperor Ichijo's wife Akiko, vividly depicted the then powerful Fujiwara no Michinaga and the Heian aristocracy. The Murasaki Shikibu Diary was later made into a picture scroll in the early Kamakura period (1192-1333). 『紫式部日記』は、『源氏物語』の著者であり、一条天皇の中宮であった彰子に仕えた紫式部が、当時の権力者藤原道長と平安貴族の様子を生きいきと描いた日記文学の傑作。その『紫式部日記』を、後年鎌倉時代前期に絵巻にした作品がこの『紫式部日記絵詞』です。現在は、そのうち4巻分が伝わり、五島美術館のほか、大阪・藤田美術館、東京国立博物館、個人コレクターが所蔵しています。#源氏
