Toward Japanese language education with a view to creating a society that goes beyond learning the Japanese language What can Japanese language education do to realize a better society for both Japanese and foreigners? This book does not separate educational practice from research activities, but rather attempts to create a new type of Japanese language education by moving back and forth between the two. This is an introductory overview book that considers how practice and research should be conducted, and aims to understand the basic perspectives and attitudes of Japanese language education. The authors introduce their own research themes from their encounters with the field and provide easy-to-understand explanations, including research trends. Part 1 [Theory] approaches Japanese language education mainly from the perspective of research. It touches on research on such topics as interaction in second language acquisition research, learner autonomy, dialogue and communication, narrative and identity, interaction, and Japanese language education policy, and discusses how each topic can be put into practice. The second section [Practice] introduces the authors' involvement in practice and the state of practice from their perspectives as experts in the field. The second section [Practice] introduces the involvement in practice and the state of practice from the viewpoints of the authors, who are experts in the field. It touches on such practices as education overseas, learning support for foreigners living in Japan including refugees*children*workers, multicultural community development, and multicultural co-curricular activities, and discusses the relationship between each practice and research findings, and the way practice and research should go back and forth. |
