Description
*Warm wood block print This is a lovely tote bag with a rustic, warm print and lots of unique Indian charm! It is large enough to fit an A4-size bag with room to spare, making it perfect for a short trip out and about! It also has an inside pocket for a cell phone or key case. It folds up to a compact size, making it perfect for carrying around as a portable bag! *Handmade crystals In India, there is a technique called wood block, which is made by hand-stamping hand-carved woodblocks. In Japan today, cloth is printed as if it were a newspaper being printed, but long ago, people in India, who did not have sophisticated printing machines, came up with the idea of woodblock printing in order to beautifully dye their own cloth with their own hands. This bag is one of the products made by the old-fashioned method using wood block printing. The small flowers and vines that Indian women love, the muted colors, and the slightly off-kilter patterns that only handmade fabrics can produce, remind us of faraway lands. It is a small piece of cloth, but even within it is filled with tradition and a continental sense of beauty. It is the result of careful handwork that takes a long time to complete, as the plates are changed every time the colors change. India is a treasure trove of beautiful cloth, but cloth made of woodblock has a special charm of its own. *How woodblock products are made Tilakita staff visited a local woodblock print factory. We hope you will take a look at this link to learn more about the process of making woodblock before you purchase. |
